Wk 15 Bengals vs Steelers
BENGALS 19, STEELERS 10 Steelers first drive ends in 3 as I shut down the high flying O of Montana and gang inside the 5. Next up, I'm putting together a nice drive and Leonard Russell fumbles after catching a stellar cross-field 4th down pass from Everett. Steelers toss it deep to Eric Green on the very next play who JJs in coverage for the score. 10-0 Steelers. I would drive down and score a FG right before the half. 10-3 bad guys at the half. I received to begin the 2nd half and put together a nice drive with a ton of short catches for Desmond Howard (silently having a very fine rookie campaign) but on the pass 2 JJ attempt on the called play Everett overthrows and it's picked off in the endzone for a touchback. A very very very crucial set of plays would ensue. Steelers run the first three downs and are saddled with a 4th and 1 situation. They call pass and all four receivers are wide open. Montana scrambles a bit, unlaunches a pass....right to the only covered receiver!!! Bengals take over on downs. Cincy would strike pretty quickly this time, with Everett sneaking in a pass to Michael Irvin for the TD. 10-10. Steelers get it back right around the beginning of the 4th quarter. They put together a nice drive with their season potentially hanging in the balance. But on a called play, Montana heaves it up to a covered Robert Clark and old man Everson Walls would come down with the big INT!!! Bengals take over with about 3 to play with about 85 yards to go. And 85 yards they would go. Desmond Howard caught a pass in the endzone just out of the reach of the leaping linebacker defender with just over a minute to go in the game. 17-10 Bengals! Montana would get one last shot to air it out long but Lawrence Taylor got in for the safety, proving once again that the Bengals will miss the veteran leader once he decides to hang up his spikes. 19-10, and that's how it would end.
