Wk 10 Bengals vs Chiefs CHIEFS 21, BENGALS 17
First drive I'm going down the field nicely and Everett eventually underthrows a deep ball and Haddix flags it down for the INT.
Chiefs would fumble and I took over, this time driving the length of the field and hitting Desmond Howard for the score, 7-0 Bengals.
Chiefs would miss a FG shortly thereafter when LT tackled the holder and I took over, but I would turn the ball over again (another Haddix INT on an underthrown pass) and Chiefs would get another shot. They drive down for another FG attempt and miss it. Bengals get it with :40 left in the half and a couple of Russell run 3's would get them into FG position of their own and Staurovsky would nail it. 10-0 Bengals at the half.
Chiefs get the ball to start the second half and get a nice return out to around midfield. Soon after I call the Chiefs play and Everson Walls would pick it off, but he would fumble it right back to KC. Still, the Bengals played excellent defense and the Chiefs were faced with 4th and long. They throw the blind bomb to the endzone and Mark Chmura reels it in in quadruple coverage for the CC TD. 10-7 Bengals.
Bengals get the ball back on the kickoff but the first play from scrimmage is a Whitebread fumble. Sean Jones picks it up and rumbles into the endzone to put the Chiefs up 14-10, just like that. Great.
Next up the Chiefs play some nice defense and force a 3 and out and the Bengals punt it away. Luckily the Cincy defense was up to the challenge as they force a 3 and out right back. There's now about 4:00 to play in the game with the Bengals down 4. Can they drive the length of the field to score?
Yes. They can. A mix of run and pass brings the Bengals inside the 10 yard line and Everett decides to take off on the QB keeper and gets just inside the pylon for the score. 17-14 with just over a minute to play.
Chiefs get it back and go to work through the air. They hit a pass to about midfield and then start chucking bombs. First, incomplete. Second, incomplete. Third, there's time for one last play. Testaverde throws it up long to Michael Jackson with all-pro David Fulcher in coverage. Jackson leaps and makes the JJ reception in the back of the endzone for the score and the game. 21-17 Chiefs. Game over. Fuck me gently with a chainsaw.
