the eagles put up a run for the bills' money and home crowd as the bills barely squeak a victory in week 11. the bills got first pos. 3 plays later johnny bailey would find paydirt as the bills take a commanding 7 point lead. 7-0 bills eagles would answer on a big run from gary to set up a big CC to novacek for the score. 7-7 the onside attempt would work, whether planned or not, and the eagles get the ball back. back to work they go. rice would get the JJ and run fast enough to evade defenders to take a...commandeering...lead. 14-7 eagles the bills' next pos. consisted of an incomplete pass on the blitz and a quick out to pickens who would take it all the way to the bank. 14-14 the eagles would get into a 4th and 24 hole and decide to go for it, but kosar would throw errantly, and the bills would take over at the eagles' 30. the bills wouldn't find their way past the line of scrimmage, but go for it on 4th and 10 as tim harris comes up with a sack for the TO. with :40 left in the half, gary would carry and kosar would overthrow rice. all tied up at half. the eagles would use up the entire 3rd qtr with an effective run game and a couple of wide open passes to receivers to get them onto the bills' 12. the party would stop there as the FG unit came on to put another 3 on the board for the birds. 17-14 eagles the onside was tried again to try and seal the deal, but to no avail. 3 plays later bailey again puts the bills on top. 21-17 bills with plenty of time the eagles try the clock control game. they get themselves in position with :44 left at the bills' 30. one overthrown pass to gary, and a valiant but failed rush attempt from gary as time expired would be the end of this one. 21-17 bills i must say that this is a smarter eagles offense than i've seen from them, yet. gary not fumbling all game helped, too.
