Miami, FL - The Dolphins beat the Patriots for the second time this season, this time in a game full of turnovers as Miami won 14-7. Ernest Givins continued his spectacular season as he had 133 receiving yards and a TD. Edgar Bennett would pace the Pats' with 127 rush yards and a TD, but his 2 fumbles were costly to New England's chances of winning their first game.
The first half featured erratic play by both teams as Miami received first and went out on downs. Bennett would fumble on New England's first play from scrimmage, and Miami would capitalize as Neal Anderson led the team down the field to a TD. Michael Haddix would have a big return on the kickoff, but the Pats would score on a Bennett TD run. After Miami would hve 3 straight incompletes, 3 of the game's next 4 plays were turnovers as Favre was picked off on a sweet JJ INT by Lyght (Givins was open), Krieg would be picked off on the next play by Dale Carter, a 40 yard pass to Givins and then a misread by Favre and Lyght would intercept again to close the half.
New England came out strong to open the third, but down in Miami territory would eschew the FG attempt and go for it, but a Dolphins blitz would kill that. Miami would also go out on downs on their next drive. Bennett would again get the Pats' in scoring range in the 4th, but a critical fumble was picked up by Chris Zorich and ran back 30 yards. On the next play, Favre found an open Givins for the go-ahead TD with 3:00 left. Kreig would overthrow Kerry Cash and be picked off by Carl Lee with 1:25 to play, and Miami would run out the clock with some Anderson runs. GG sstruck and I hope you get one soon.
