Week 9 Bengals vs Bills BENGALS 17, BILLS 14
This was the best single game of Tecmo I have played in a long time.
Bills forced to punt on their first drive after Carlos Jenkins comes up with a big 3rd down sack.
Bengals drive the field with a couple bigtime 3rd and 4th down conversions mostly from Everett to Russell to keep the drive alive. Eventually Russell gets free on a run and scampers to paydirt. 7-0 good guys.
Bills would come back and eventually tie the game on a McCaffrey CC, after which he shed the tackler (Fulcher) and ran the extra 10 yards for the score. 7-7.
Bengals had very little time left in the half at this point and they elect to air it out. Desmond Howard makes a big catch (CC) in major traffic at midfield. With 2 seconds left in the half Jason Staurovsky comes out to attempt the ridiculously long FG. He calmly drains it with Bryan Cox right in his face and it's 10-7 at the half. That would be huge.
Bengals receive to begin the second half and put together a nice looking drive, but it stalls out around the Bills 30 and a FG would ensue. This time, Cox gets his revenge by blocking the kick. The Bills recover and take over around their own 40.
Former Bengal Mel Gray would shortly thereafter go to work, carving up the Bengal defense just like he used to in practice many moons ago. He showed no visible signs of the aged player the Bengals traded away for a 2nd round pick. He would dance to paydirt and the Bills would take their first lead. 14-10.
Jim Everett had 4 minutes to work with and he made great use of it, running for yardage and finding open receivers like the incumbent league MVP that he is. Eventually he would find Gil "Whitebread" Fenerty over the middle, who would stretch the ball over the goal line as he was being tackled by Erik McMillan to put the Bengals up 17-14 with under a minute to play.
A couple of last gasps for the Bills would fall incomplete and the Bengals would celebrate the win!!
Excellent game Brookston and best of luck the rest of the way.
Bengals 6-1 and in sole possession of 1st place!
POW candidate: Everett. Completed 11/17 for over 200 with 1 big TD, completing passes to 7 different receivers!!!

unlike the wk 1 matchup, mcmillan couldn't put his hands on anything solid. he was there, but everett put just enough grease on the ball to squeak through mcpick's clutches. of course, jimmy wiped off the ball when he wanted to throw the ball to his own receivers cuz they all caught their passes.
and actually, desmond's big catch was not a CC, but rather a cool open diving catch on a blitz. it was still basically the game winning catch seeing as jason kicked the FG which was the point differential. it was a very good kick, btw, as cox was basically standing on the holder when he kicked. great game. see you in playoffs...where i will win because i'm winning the SB this year.
