Week 12: SD vs. NYG
SD 17 NYG 10 Comebacks are not what the Chargers want as an identity this season. Nevertheless, comebacks have kept the team afloat. SD, led by Emmitt Smith and an eager secondary, came back from a 10-3 deficit in the second half to win its game with DIV rival the NYG. Much of the game was a volley of fumbles for TDs and INTs for big set-ups. With both teams tied at 3 apiece, Jessie Hester fumbles a KR into the hands of a NYG defender. Buckey Richardson eventually finds Mark Ingram in the EZ to make it 10-3. The 2nd QTR opens with the NYG driving and fumbling on a Harvey Williams run that allows SD’s QB Boomer Esiason to run in a TD from the 5 yard line to make it 10-10. On NYG’s subsequent play, Buckey Richardson is INT’d by Stanley Richards. Esiason, making a bigger impact in the playbook, throws a CC strike to Willie Gault to set up an Emmitt Smith TD run. 17-10. On the NYG’s ensuing drive, Buckey Richardson is INT’d again by SD’s Stanley Richards and SD churns out yards to run the clock out. GG MRTSB. This one was intense for sure.
