The 1993 WTF College Draft: Available Quarterbacks
Welcome to another season of drafting fun! Here are the QBs who will be available in the 1993 draft. Enjoy! All will have RS = 25, RP = 69, HP = 13, PA = 50 as on the original ROM. Without further adieu... Name: Drew Bledsoe Position: QB College: Washington State Outlook: Bledsoe is a rare gunslinger of a QB who some scouts are comparing to Dan Marino. He is VERY slow and immobile but makes up for it with outrageous passing speed and very good accuracy. Bledsoe has the look of a franchise QB for years to come after guiding the Washington State Cougars to the Rose Bowl this past NCAA season. He does not have a strong arm and is not tremendously accurate, so many scouts worry about his ability to translate to the much faster pro game. But there are others who think he could develop into a Testaverde-like threat given the opportunity to play. Hobert is more of a traditional pocket passer, while Brunell is a scrambler who makes things happen in the running game. There's no question Hobert has the physical tools to be a successful QB in the WTF, but some have questioned his work ethic and weekly preparation for games. If he quiets these critics, Hobert could be a successful starter in this league. Otherwise, he will be relegated to clipboard duty. With a little bit more polish and experience Brunell should become one of the league's premier quarterbacks in the vein of San Diego QB Boomer Esiason...and he may even be a hair faster than Boomer. Outlook: Torretta at first appeared to be another fine QB from Miami, following in a line that includes Eagles QB Bernie Kosar and Vinny Testaverde of the Chiefs. Indeed, Torretta had a stellar season in 1992 for the Hurricanes which culminated in his winning the Heisman Trophy over such highly talented athletes as the aforementioned Bledsoe and Mirer. However, he's looked like ass at the combines and some now doubt that Torretta will even be drafted at all. 'Tis a shame. No doubt that Torretta could be worth a late round gamble, however, since his upside is quite good. Without Howard around this season to make him look good, Grbac declined somewhat but still graduates from Michigan as the all-time leader in many passing categories. There's little doubt that Grbac should be a solid, although not quite standout, QB in the WTF. Football's such an afterthought. However, Green put up consistently solid numbers as a collegian and could be a very solid WTF QB. Buyer beware: there's a good chance Green doesn't develop as expected and hence could be a major bust...
