San Fran at Denver
San Fran comes into Denver lookin for some revenge from the season's earlier match-up, being won late by the Broncos. Game starts with SF gettin the toss and kickin off...here we go.. First play of the game, coach Arn makes it a point to show Denver he wasn't gunna get beat by Hump. He picks my run for a loss. Next play Denver wants to see if Arn really is tryin to stop the run, and he is. Robert Brooks is wide open for a 50 yard completion. The Broncos continue to pass and on 4th and 1, Hump is stopped on a dump off. SF ball on the turnover. SF has a very similar drive to Denver's. 30 yards pass to Jones and then 4 and out to the Broncos. Palmer is thinking to himself...Wow, thisis a defensive game so far. It continues to be as SF forces a punt after 3 plays. This drive for SF gets the scoring going. Instead of sticking to using Gill, I try to use big Mike Singltary. he proceeds to get blown up and Bo runs for a TD puttin SF up 7-0. Steve Young is like , to quote Lord from an earlier game, fuck it. He decided to take over. He throws a lazer JJ to Brooks who runs all over the field only to be tackled at the one yard line. Pretty much knowing Lott was tryin to stuff the run, Young drops back and tosses a TD to ole reliable Henry Ellard to tie the game up at 7. There is 2:33 left in the half. SF recieves the ball and Bo gets another long run to about the 50. Next play, Moon tries to hit Bo on a short pass but Gill "I'm leading WTF in interceptions" Byrd picks one off to get Denver the ball back with little time before the 2nd quarter is over. First play, Hump coughs it up but it bounces out quickly. Young looks thru my laptop and asks, "Why the fuck are you running the ball?!? You know he's picking runs!" So I listen to Stevie and throw a TD to the streaking Henry Ellard as Lott was running to The Rook to cover him. 14-7 Denver at the half. SF comes out of the half ready to roll. SF just overpowers Denvers defense...so Arn thinks...until its 1st and goal from the one. First play I pick it, 2nd and goal I pick it, and 3rd and goal I pick it. 4th and a very long goal is not at hand so Acorn kicks it thru to make it 14-10. Denver gets the ball back and SF steps up the defense. SF forced a 4th and 6 from my own 14 and I go for it. Pretty sure hes picking run, I pick pass. He is forced to drop back into coverage and Young runs for the first. I methodically move the ball down the field and finally Hump shows up and romps off a 30 yard TD run to put Denver up 21-10. SF is in desperation mode now, in the 4th quarter. On a 4th down of his own, he is forced to go for it. Stupidly, I use Millard instead of Gill and get blown up again. Moon finds Pritchard for the first to keep SF in the game. Bo makes some runs to move them closer to the endzone. For the third time, I shy away from Gill on defense and use Mike. And sure enough KABOOM...blown up for the 3rd time and Ricky Sanders says hello to the endzone. 21-17 Denver with barely over a minute left. SF goes for the onside, but it is not converted. I get the ball, pass to Brooks for a nice gain then I melt the clock on 2 Young runs to end the game. 21-17 final going to the Broncos. Arn played a very good game and was classy as always. GG man and GL the rest of the way!
