new option next year Was thinking about it and came up w. idea for those rookies that get shit rolls and don't even end up using them or a terrible career bc of it.
What if we keep a rookie on the practice squad for his first year then the following year he can be re-rolled be using a draft pick on him?? Would be spending a year on practice squad working on his skills - like a redshirt year in college.
This would keep him on the practice squad making the PS more important about spots filled as well as give a rookie that just ended up w a shitty roll another chance at becoming something - and it will leave a little more talent at the end of the draft if ppl use their late 4th and 5th round picks on a "re roll"
LMK what think, obviously can do some fine tuning to the idea, but I think that it has some potential and make WTF even 1 more step ahead of the other leagues

Yeah. With some tweaking, this might be a really good idea!

I like it, so long as it's FREE AGENT guys who are getting rerolled and not early round busts.

Howbout really late round busts? For me, Horace Copeland had a 5% chance at his worst attribute line, yet it happened!

To play the opposite side of this idea:
You would almost have to start this in like... 1996 season or something. The reason is because people who have traded away or for draft picks did so under the understanding that busts can occur so if we changed the rule right now it would increase the value of draft picks. This would help some teams and hurt others. You need to set a rule like this far enough in the the future that it isnt and unfair disadvantage or advantage to any team.
As LSI said, it sounds fine to do that starting next season with free agent pickups because we all have a chance at them. So, even if this is an idea that everyone goes with it should take some time before it is implemented to avoid advantage/disadvantage situations.

Agreed. I like the idea in theory and maybe there is some compromise that can be reached but it will require some foresight and reworking.

Yeah, like I mentioned above - it needs some tweaking to work out all of the kinks and things like Swamp mentioned as far as ppl gave away their future 4th and 5th round picks w/out knowing that they could be worth more than what they traded for is an issue.. It also makes those 4th and 5th round picks worth MUCH more w/ a chance liek this.
But in theory I think that it is a great idea.. The part of making the player be part of the practice squad for the following year makes it solid and not just a bs throw in bc you can't use them at all and only reason for having them on the PS is to attempt for a better roll next draft rather than being mediocre at best and filling a spot on roster as their only purpose.
What will I think could be another good option is that if your stat line is better from the original roll - after being drafted then you get on 2nd try you are allowed to use that 1st stat line rather than a worse 1 after re rolling. It might seem a little bit like we are padding the rookies coming in, but from the way the rolls have gone - the history of it, there have been many major busts and is going ensure that there is a decent amount of star power out there for the future.. Besides the already established studs from the original rom draft the high number of % is bust or average at best.. Tecmo from original rom what we all fell in love w/ and makes the game what it is, is the fact that the studs like LT, DT, Rice, Fulcher, etc do exist.. They make the game stand above and beyond, not like the SNES version that doesn't have the "stud power" that the original does.. I think that it won't flood the market so to speak of studs, but will even it out more from the new players coming in with another shot at becoming what some or even most of them have w/ their real life counterparts.. Brett Favre just to name one. He would be a perfect example of why to use a pick in the next draft to attempt at getting a better stat line.
Obviously quick thinking here and just an idea that needs to work out the kinks as well.. If use a 3rd round pick to re roll for a player you would get 3 tries and can keep the best of the 3, a 4th rounder gets 2 rolls keep the best of the 2 rolls, and a 5th rounder you get 1 roll and can keep that stat line or go back to the stat line that got last rolling ceremony.
If yo uget shit rolls again after re rolling then it was defin meant to be and no qualms about it bc have been given more than 1 opportunity at it.
We are talking about a random 1-100 dice roll here used to determine football player's abailities. It is fair completely, but best 2 out of 3 it's safe to assume that everyone of us has asked for that chance for redemption at one time or another during our lifetime about something we weren't satisfied about the outcome of.. Right??
BTW - I personally haven't received a single "bust" on any of my picks in any of the 3 draft rolling ceremonies so this isn't a personal attempt to better my team at all.. I truly believe that it is another way to make this league be just another step up on the others, a better way for the bottom teams compete w/ the top tier ones, and plain out more interesting for everyone!
Look at how many of us tune in each season for the rolling ceremony.. All of us glued to the screen w/ AIM away message up so not to bother us during it.. Why not give us all another reason to spend a night glued to our monitor w/ the chanceof landing a stud.. right?
