Bengals/Oilers Lefty and I played 3 games. I won 2 out of the 3.
First game was murder. I held him to 40 total yards and won 24-0. Everett played OK and Gary Anderson did a lot of the grunt work on the ground.
2nd game was epic. This time his defense really stepped it up, aided by the fact that Everett went into bad condition which limited his effectiveness, especially when blitzed. However, I was able to put together a nice drive at the end of regulation to tie the game at 17 to send it to OT where I received and proceeded to drive the length of the field to get a FG to win it 20-17.
3rd game I think I actually played my best game, but lost. Reason being, I fumbled the opening kickoff, Lefty got a quick timing JJ score soon after....then I fumbled the next kickoff as well!!! Oilers got another quick score and it's 14-0 before I ever got to run an offensive play. Rest of the game I actually played very well including some really nice timing plays in the red zone for scores, finally tying the game at 21 with 1 second to go in the 3rd quarter. Lefty received and put together a really solid drive and kicked a FG with about 1:30 to play to go up 24-21. I get it back and put together a couple of running plays to take it to midfield. Mel Gray (back in the RB position in the 2nd half of this one) gets the handoff with 15 seconds to play at midfield. My goal was to gain about 10 yards and sneak out of bounds and line up for a FG. However, I break free on the run and decide to go for the win when I see Lefty's man defender (Jerome Brown) fall down. Unfortunately Gray didn't have enough steam and a bunch of drones caught up to him to bring him down around the 25 to end the game. Really good set of games these were....
GG and GL this season Lefty.
